The Voices of Antichrist: American Christians’ Greatest Threat!

The Voices of Antichrist:

Christians Were Warned at the Beginning.
The Warnings Come to Us Again—
But Stronger Than Ever Before.

On January 28, 2025, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists made their annual prediction, rating how close humanity is to ending life on Earth. They factored in the destructive impacts of climate change, the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the instability of the Middle East, the rising threat of global pandemics, and the incorporation of AI in military calculations.
Accordingly, they advanced their famous “Doomsday Clock” to 89 seconds until midnight—the closest it has ever been.
It made me wonder:

What if there were a “doomsday clock”
for the Church in America? What time would it be?

What if there were a way to predict how close the Christian movement is to becoming “doomed”—irreparably divided, diverted, depleted?
As God audits us, what if he determines that our mission to advance the saving purposes of Christ and his kingdom is becoming spiritually inept and impotent—even irrelevant—as far as making a genuine difference for the cause of Christ or having any lasting impact for Jesus in our land?
What would our “clock” say? How close to “midnight” has the American Church come?
The answer depends primarily on one key issue: How are his people in this nation currently responding to the single greatest threat we face in this hour, the one about which Christians have been warned from the first century onward?
I’m talking about the voices of antichrist. Have you heard their seductive calls?
In this blog post, I want to take you with me into the heart of this deadly challenge that’s facing the Christian movement in America at this hour. Its growing impact on even one life could disable our walk with Jesus far more than we could ever imagine. That’s equally true but to the nth power for the corporate Body of Christ in our land!

The Constant Threat of Antichrist’s Invasion

In John’s first epistle, he defines this challenge as “antichrist.” He is not writing about a certain person but rather a “spirit” that manifests in many proteges. He writes:
[T]est the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world . . . every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world (1 John 4:1-3, NIV).
[M]any deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist (2 John 1:7, NIV, emphasis added).
But many other terms such as “false teachers,” “super-apostles,” “hypocritical liars” and more—along with the same urgent warning—populate the whole New Testament. In fact, there are far more verses about these seductive operators inside the Church than about the person and work of the Holy Spirit! Obviously, the threat is serious—and persistent.

Historically, from the first century to the 21st, voices of the “antichrist” have confronted the Christian movement as one of its greatest assailants, raised against every Jesus follower and every congregation at one time or another. Behind it all, in their attempt to oppose the eternal, worldwide, redemptive purposes of the living God, are the forces of darkness who deploy the spirit and conveyers of “antichrist” as the single greatest weapon available to them.
These ensnaring appeals come in many shapes and forms—in many accents and intonations—as we’re about to learn.

Let’s Define Our Key Term

The word “antichrist” has two parts: (1) “CHRIST” (Messiah) is the sacred title of our Lord Jesus confirming his role as master of the universe, source of eternal salvation, and the lord of our lives. (2) The prefix “ANTI” means “against; hostile to; opposed to.”
Here are two examples of how to think of the sobering implication of “anti” in “antichrist”:
(1) When I put antifreeze coolant in my radiator, it neutralizes ice so that it cannot form there.
(2) Sometimes, I need to take an antacid tablet when my stomach is upset after a spicy meal. It neutralizes the acid and calms things down.
In the same way, the theme of “antichrist” in Scripture covers any MESSAGE, teaching, claim, vision, practice, or prophecy that ultimately “neutralizes” the truth and reality of the person and purposes of the Lord Jesus Christ and my relationship to him, undermining my walk with him.
“Antichrist” also defines any PERSON who deliberately or unintentionally conveys deadly deceptions that “neutralize” believers’ zeal for Christ—or conversely, who simply fail to make much of the fullness of his glory to God’s people, thereby diluting believers’ passion for our reigning Lord Jesus Christ.
Primarily, antichrist marks influencers, mostly inside the Church, who divert God’s people, drawing them away from a focus on and a devotion to Jesus for all he is—which leads them into spiritual dead ends of counterproductive agendas, causes, and pursuits, often consisting of what Paul calls “the doctrines of demons.”

Side Bar: An Appendix to Help You
Dig Deeper Into This Biblical Theme

If you want to explore for yourself what Scripture has to say about the multiple manifestations of antichrist, I have good news for you!
At the end of this blog post is an appendix I’ve created—an appendix of New Testament passages that show you a wide spectrum of the voices of antichrist. As far as I know, nothing quite like this compilation has been available before.

The entries are from the New Testament only, however. If I were to provide additional references to the scourge of false teachings we’re warned about in the Old Testament, that would require a small book!
Suggestion: You might want to scroll down to the appendix right now just to get a quick feel of the many ways the apostles expose these attacks. Then, return to this blog post to read how I address the plague as it’s found today inside the Church in America. (Later, you definitely should go back and meditate on the passages found there.)

Listening for the Voices of Antichrist Today

First, let me say this: There are many encouraging signs of the kingdom of God at work in our nation.
Sales of Bibles are up 22% in the past year. A recent rise in religious fervor among all young people nationwide is remarkable. Barna Research reported this month that “52% of teens in America are very motivated to learn more about Jesus”—which mirrors a general openness among over 65% of adult non-Christians to developing a deeper “spiritual” life.
Increasingly, in many quarters, it seems “Christianity” is back in vogue.
In addition, tens of thousands of local churches, with the Scriptures as foundational to all they do, keep pressing on in faithful worship, discipleship, and mission outreaches—including those that come to the aid of the poor, the needy, the homeless, and the refugees around us.
God’s people in our great urban centers, especially, demonstrate a comprehensive application of the gospel that includes efforts at community renewal through Bible-based moral and social reform.
Numbers of Christians coast to coast have formed pockets of intentional prayer for revival, seeking God’s face for what many call a fresh “outpouring of the Holy Spirit” upon our land.
Even so, on the flip side, we find evidence that all is not well with the Body of Christ. The American Church’s “doomsday clock” keeps ticking toward midnight!
For example, in the past 20 years, forty million church members have walked away—permanently. Today, only 32% of Americans attend church weekly, compared to 64% just ten years ago. On top of that are the financial and sex abuse scandals in too many churches that continue to discredit our claims about the gospel.

However, the most disconcerting issue today—the concern most often expressed by church leaders, as well as many in the pews—is the extensive politicization of the Church over the past two decades.

National Conflicts Carry Local Consequences

“Voices” of clamor, chaos, and confusion are projected daily from our leaders in Washington, DC. The evening news is rife with reports of each day’s display of animus and antagonism among members of Congress.
Sadly, by every measure, the upheaval of our current dysfunctional political and social climate has, in turn, seeped into our congregations. It has polarized and paralyzed churches from coast to coast. In its wake, Christians regularly see other Christians as “the enemy.” Too often, political party identity trumps what should be our view of each other’s far greater identity that we share together by our union with Christ.
This drama has continued to invade and infect the Christian movement at large. The chasm among believers grows wider with no apparent solutions. Books have been written on the great “evangelical divide”—on how it is undermining the credibility of our message of promised redemption, reconciliation, and rebirth through Jesus Christ.
As Paul said of another generation of God’s people (to paraphrase from Romans 3): “Because of you, the name of God is blasphemed among the unbelievers.” Today, he most likely would write: “Because of you evangelicals, the name of the Lord Jesus is diminished and dismissed among a multitude of fellow Americans.”
Most tragic of all is this: In the final analysis, it appears that the eruptions of harsh secular voices that now echo inside our churches has metamorphosed to become thoroughly “antichrist” in nature (whether from Democrats or Republicans). In unprecedented fashion, they are diverting multitudes of Christians from advancing the cause of Christ. Multitudes of believers are distracted from knowing more of Christ, experiencing more of Christ, and becoming more for Christ.
Voices hotly debating national survival issues end up “neutralizing” Christians’ engagement with and sharing of the wonders of the saving reign of Christ among us. They are preventing countless believers from becoming fully passionate for Christ and his kingdom because their zeal gets siphoned off to pursue other causes, personalities, and philosophies.
All of this reminds me of the “Sirens” in Greek mythology—a number of women or winged creatures whose singing lured unwary sailors to destruction on the rocks.

But That’s Not the Worst of Our Situation

To the multitude of “political” voices, we can add a whole other set of themes swirling inside our churches that can compete powerfully for the allegiance that belongs to Christ alone. Without a doubt, today there have arisen among us a host of false teachers and false apostles (as Paul called them), whose messages are potentially more seductive.
Some of these actors proclaim esoteric New Age insights or spiritual promises of Eastern religions. Others claim to guide you into the secrets of obtaining health and wealth.
Others who are far more deadly are those Paul describes in 2 Corinthians 11, who bring “another Jesus, another gospel, another spirit”—all designed, he says, to lead God’s people away from a “pure devotion to Christ.” At the end of that chapter, Paul describes these messengers like this:
For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness(vv. 13-15a, NIV).
However, there are others who are true believers, but who may unintentionally and inadvertently become complicit in the work of antichrist.
For example, there are those believers whose passions are totally preoccupied with spiritual warfare, who are ready by prayer and in other ways to “fight, fight, fight.” For them, there is a larger battle underway between the forces of good and evil—and taking on that conflict becomes what really matters in their lives. It may be done in Jesus’ name, but ultimately Satan becomes much more their focus rather than Jesus. I can attest to this by my own multiple experiences in such settings.
As another example, there are those disciples who are intent on fulfilling a different mission. Their energies are bent toward working for the day when Christians occupy and dominate all the top roles in government, business, education, and media. They believe God’s kingdom should take dominion right now through the Church.
Increasingly, inside a host of churches, such messages of triumphalism are being raised, often with apocalyptic fervor, championing how God is bringing Heaven and earth into such an alignment. They forecast that an imminent inbreaking of God’s kingdom for the final reclamation of America is at hand—and that we need to join in accelerating the victory.
Other voices from other parts of the Body of Christ summon the Church to greater involvement in ministry to the disenfranchised in our society, but they too often do so by minimizing the saving work of Christ in order not to offend those they serve who may be of a different persuasion. Jesus talked about the undesirable consequences in our relationship with him if we publicly deny him.

On top of that, the social media world overwhelms us with a cacophony of agendas—any one of which can neutralize the impact of Christ on our lives. With the vast multiplication of thousands of podcasts, videos, and video blogs flooding the media landscape, Christians are faced with an extensive menu of issues, predictions, claims, causes, debates, and convictions to soak up our time and attention, if we choose.
That provides a sample of what all of us are confronted with on a regular basis. I’m sure many believers are well-intentioned by their involvement in some of it, with no conscious desire to diminish Jesus or divert others from him in the process.
Still, the results are there. Every voice that does not call us “Christward,” fitting us with “King Jesus glasses” as we look at each other and the mission God has given his people—that messenger becomes “antichrist,” operating against and leading us away from both the glory of Christ and the cause of Christ.
Daily, in all of life, Christians are either moving toward more of Christ or away from him. There is no middle ground.
Tragically, millions of hearts in our churches are already so filled with persuasions coming at us from every direction, it’s no wonder disciples end up gradually moving away from Christ and experiencing less of him rather than moving toward Christ and discovering more of who he is, where he’s headed, what he’s doing, and how they can get more involved with him.

The American Church Now Finds Itself in a Crisis
Making Us Even More Susceptible to Antichrist Voices

The greatest danger we face with such a flood of purveyors of antichrist messages is the “crisis of Christology” inside our churches. This renders us almost defenseless against the onslaught and clearly more susceptible to their seductions.
What is the “crisis of Christology” really all about?
Fundamentally, in much of the American Church today, the Lord Jesus Christ has ceased to be the supreme focus of his people. Many call this a “crisis of Christology” because for all practical purposes, Jesus is treated more like a mascot than a monarch.
As we’ve already seen, Christians today are occupied with many agendas—political, social, cultural, relational, and congregational. But with all we’re facing as a nation right now, the vision of God’s Son reigning among God’s people remains far too inconsequential.
Our spiritual myopia fails to produce the overriding, consuming passion for Christ that would move Christians to join him in accelerating new advances of his kingdom throughout the land.

The Contours of Our Crisis

The research explored in Christless Christianity (Michael Horton, 2008) remains very much on point, 17 years later. The studies show that many evangelical churches are promoting, often unconsciously, a form of “moralistic, therapeutic Deism” (the technical terms)—majoring on ethics, personal wholeness, and responding to a distant image of God, with Christ left at the fringes.
Theologian J. I. Packer suggested that the Church’s current experience of its Lord could be illustrated by Humpty Dumpty: Our Christology has broken into a hundred pieces. Everyone has a piece of who Jesus is, but very few are trying to put all the pieces back together.
Richard Fox of Yale University observed that evangelicals have created a “pantheon of Jesuses” from which we pick and choose the one we need based on current felt needs.
The late Chuck Colson said that our churches have become “retail outlets,” with members as “consumers” and Jesus as the “product.”
Dr. Timothy George warns: “The erosion of Christ-exalting faith threatens to undermine he very identity of evangelical Christianity.”
Erwin McManus, one of the nation’s most influential pastors wrote: “I believe that one reason why the Church is having so little impact on our nation is because Christ is having so little impact on His Church.”
No wonder the George Barna Group summarized their demographic research this way(emphasis added):
Overall, Christian ministry is stuck in a deep rut. Too many Christians and churches in America have traded in spiritual passion for empty rituals, clever methods and mindless practices. The challenge to today’s Church is not methodological. It is the challenge to resuscitate the spiritual passion and fervor of the nation’s Christians.
The American Church Research Project concurred (2008, emphasis added):
In reality, the church in America is not booming. Because we’ve left Jesus as our supreme, all-consuming love (Revelation 2), many parts the church are in spiritual atrophy.
We here at ChristNow.com define this pervasive crisis as a “sobering shortfall”—a debilitating deficiency in how multitudes of Christians see, seek, and savor God’s Son for ALL that he is. This is followed by the growing shortfall in how we speak, show, serve, and share God’s Son for ALL that he is.
Believers may be “PURPOSE-driven” in terms of many Christian concerns and in commendable ways. But multitudes are not yet truly, and above all, “PERSON-driven”—passionate to know Christ and the fullness of his saving reign and actively spreading that vision to other believers as well as unbelievers.

The proper order is this: If we become “Person-driven,” that makes us become more “promise-driven,” then “passion-driven,” and then “purpose-driven.” But when Christ’s PERSON is not consistently exalted by us and among us for ALL that he is, then believers often find themselves exhausted trying to carry out his purposes.
Therefore, the renewal and restoration of the Church in our nation must begin with an awe-inspiring, fresh encounter with Jesus Christ—the crucified, resurrected, ascended, and reigning Messiah and Lord. Returning to Jesus as our dominate focus—and then losing our lives for his sake and his great mission (Mark 8:34-38)—is critical to the future health and growth of missional churches throughout America.
This is the only defense we have—the only antidote—to the voices of antichrist. Otherwise, we will be taken captive, one way or another.

What Are Our Next Steps?
How Do We Shut Out These Lethal Voices?

These four steps will help you seriously “crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20).
  • (1) For starters, get to know your true Enemy much better.
I help you to do that with the collection of passages describing the voices of antichrist in the appendix below. Read through them slowly and reflectively. Remember that in principle, this is precisely what we are witnessing in the US Church today.
As I mentioned before, I’ve never seen anyone compile what this appendix gives you. To be candid, when I completed it (actually, a fuller version), I had to sit in stunned silence just to take it all in and ponder the threat that has been before God’s people in every age.
  • (2) Next, see if you can identify any sources of these voices today.
They maybe trying to invade your life right now. Or they may be more at large—such as personalities, social media platforms, movements around a certain vision, or simply in the media posts or conversations of believers with one another.
  • (3) After that, begin to rebuild the “voice of JESUS” into your life.
That’s why ChristNow.com exists. Visit our website with its vast variety of free resources just waiting for you. Start somewhere—maybe with the “21-Day Video Journey Into More of Christ.” Be sure to check out all the helps that wait for you on our homepage in our free, digital “resources library.”
  • (4) Finally, consider joining our 2025 Nationwide Campaign for an American Christ Awakening.
Scroll to the bottom of our homepage at ChristNow.com to learn more about this exciting initiative to combat antichrist and to encourage a Christward spiritual uprising in our churches. Help us proclaim the “voice of Jesus” to believers everywhere.

Conclusion: Everything we’ve explored here is at the core of the biblical worldview on spiritual warfare—about essentially where the battle rages with the dark powers. This siege consists of a struggle to first take captive the hearts and minds of Christians—NOT, the hearts and minds of unbelievers. Jesus followers present the greatest obstacle to the chaos and destruction Satan wants to inflict on the entire human race.
Therefore, it would serve us well to heed these words from 1 Peter 5:6, 8 (NIV, emphasis added):
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand,
that he may lift you up in due time.
Be alert and of sober mind.
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, standing firm in the faith,
because you know that the family of believers throughout the world
is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
You know what? Maybe it would be useful, even strategic, to dive into the appendix below so that you are aware of the many voices of antichrist that the Word of God warns us about!

New Testament Warnings About
False Prophets and Spiritual Seducers
(Scriptures are taken from the NIV; emphasis added)
MATTHEW 7:
15Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.”
MATTHEW 23:
13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. 15 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.”
MATTHEW 24:

10 “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come . . .

23 “At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”

ACTS 20:
28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.”

ROMANS 16:
17 “I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.”
2 CORINTHIANS 11:

3 “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough . . .

13For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

GALATIANS 1:

6 “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

GALATIANS 4:
17 “Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them. . . . My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, 20 how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!”

GALATIANS 5:
17 “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough. 10 . . . The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.”
EPHESIANS 4:
14 “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
PHILLIPIANS 1:
15 “It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.”
COLOSSIANS 2:
2 “. . . that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. . . . 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. 19 They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.”

2 THESSALONIANS 2:

8 “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

13 “. . . God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.”

1 TIMOTHY 1:
3 “As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. . . . 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.”
1 TIMOTHY 4:
1 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. . . . 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.”
1 TIMOTHY 6:
3 “If anyone . . . does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,  4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. . . . 20 Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.”
2 TIMOTHY 2:

16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. . . . 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.

24 “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26  and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”

2 TIMOTHY 3:

1 “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, . . . 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 “They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. . . . 9 their folly will be clear to everyone.”

TITUS 1:
9 “. . . encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. 10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception . . .11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 15 . . . In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”

TITUS 3:
9 “But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.”
HEBREWS 13:
8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.”
2 PETER 2:

1. . . there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2  Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.

3 “In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. . . . 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

1 JOHN 2:
18 “Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.”
1 JOHN 3:
7 “Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”
1 JOHN 4:

1 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us.”

2 JOHN 1:

7 “I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

8 “Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.”

JUDE 1:
3 “. . . I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. . . . 12 These people are . . . shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; . . . 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.”
REVELATION 2:
14 “Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin . . . 16 Repent therefore! . . . 20 You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants . . . 22 I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.”
REVELATION 21:
2 “I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God . . . 3 ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them . . .’ 8 . . . ‘all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.'”
REVELATION 22:
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs . . . and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”
