Video: What does Christ's supremacy over creation look like?

Session 4: Awake to Who Christ Is OVER Us

“Who do you say that I am?” – Matthew 16:15

Throughout this session David establishes how Christ is supreme-to-the-max as the King of the universe, the Ruler of history, the Lord of the nations, Conqueror of evil forces, and the Master of our lives.

Preeminently, Jesus reigns as the Head of the Church, which is “the fullness of him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1). In fact, he “ascended above the heavens that He might fill the whole universe” (Ephesians 4).

Jesus is over all because God the Father has “rescued us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son He loves [because he is] the firstborn over all creation … firstborn from among the dead … head of the body, the Church; [because he has] reconciled all things whether things on earth or things in heaven, making peace by His blood shed on the cross” (Colossians 1:13,15,18,20).

Christ's on-going reign in Heaven and earth assures the fulfillment of God’s purposes now and for all ages, through Christ supreme.

Video 4:2 – What does Christ’s supremacy over creation look like?

Bible Focus:
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
- Colossians 1:13-17

After Completing Your Video:

Pause: Spend a minute in silence, reflecting on today’s teaching. What was the most meaningful part for you? How did it speak to you?

Reflect: In what ways did today's teaching video give you greater reasons to put your hope in Christ alone -- for your life, for your church, for your generation? As well as for eternity?

Apply: What is one insight about the glory of Christ you gained today that you would like to share with one other believer before the day is over, in order to help that person gain a little bit larger vision of the greatness of Christ, too?

Pray: What would you like ask the Father to do in your life by His Spirit that would deepen some facet of your relationship to His glorious Son?
