Macarius the Egyptian

He who thinks favorably of himself, or highly of his own soul, because he has partaken of grace, has not yet begun to lay his foundation right. Consider Jesus: from what height did He, the Son of God, Himself God, descend! and to what sufferings! even to the death of the cross; for which humiliation He was exalted to sit at the right hand of the Father.
