SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 121:1-8
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST protects us from everything the world, the flesh or the Devil might throw at us.
Dear Father, I continue to be immensely grateful that the omnipotent Lord Jesus watches over every part of my life, and His whole Church. I marvel when I think of all the people and influences that can harm us (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually), and that Jesus alone has the power and love to always be our full shield of protection. I rejoice that not even the sun or the moon, or other forces that are blazing and relentless against us, can prevail over the Lord, Who is the Shade at Your Right Hand. Hallelujah! Our strength is in Jesus Who even guards our most favored and precious side (typically our right hand). This name of Jesus reminds me again of His prayer to You in John 17:12, “While I was with them [His disciples], I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” I humbly repent for the times I have rejected Jesus as my shade, and I now put myself completely under His powerful, everlasting cover. I receive His life-giving shade, and I pray that all the rest of His people will do so too. I ask these things in the name of Jesus, my faithful Keeper and Preserver. Amen.
