SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 104:1-4
Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent
and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds his messengers,[a]
flames of fire his servants.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST and His Kingdom ways display for us just how great God really is.
Dear Father, I joyfully praise the Lord Jesus, my God, Who alone is Very Great. I love this Psalm’s wonderful testimony of Christ’s awesome creative and sustaining power and authority! An endless number of “very greats” to describe Christ would still be inadequate to describe how great He is. I can only imagine the vast splendor and majesty that He is clothed with. I marvel at the thought of Him wrapping Himself in light, and stretching out the heavens like a tent, and on and on. I pray that all His people throughout the earth will clearly see His eternal greatness, and praise Him continually. Please help us to trust His greatness completely, and submit every part of our lives to His lordship. And, please urge us to testify that Jesus is Very Great to the lost friends, relatives, neighbors, work associates and everyone else we know who so desperately need Him, so that they too will be eager to live in His greatness. I pray these things in the preeminent name of Jesus. Amen.
