SCRIPTURE READING:
John 15:1-5

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the source of all true fruitfulness.

Dear Father, I love to think about all Jesus meant when He called Himself the True Vine. I praise Him that He is the completely True (genuine, perfect and legitimate) Vine (source of all life) for me and all other believers. I am deeply grateful that You sent Him to earth to reveal the fullness of truth about Your righteousness and justice, since the nation of Israel (Your early vineyard) had failed to do that. I am also grateful that all His followers (branches) have the priceless privilege of being grafted into Him. I rejoice that He is the source of all our peace, strength, protection, truth, hope, light, revelation, nourishment and all else. I am convinced that we cannot bear fruit for Him, or do anything, if we do not remain in Him. With all my heart and resolve, I give myself to remaining in Him alone, and I pray You will prune me to make me most fruitful. I pray that Your Spirit will focus more and more attention within the Church on all that the True Vine is, so that they will put aside every other vine they are attached to, and remain completely in Him. May we bear unprecedented fruit, for His pleasure and glory. I ask these things in Jesus’ life-giving name. Amen.
