SCRIPTURE READING:
2 Corinthians 4:7-12
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the true wealth in this universe.
Dear Father, I bless You for Jesus, the precious Treasure (of all treasures). I praise Jesus that there could be no more valuable and needed Treasure, now and for all eternity, than Him! I rejoice that all the truths, life, love, hope, grace, forgiveness and glory of Your gospel are in the Treasure. I also rejoice that You have put that invaluable Treasure in jars of clay (earthen vessels), which are weak and undependable people like me and all other men, women, young people and children who have received Him as our Savior. I pray You will strongly remind us how great Jesus our Treasure, is, and of our undeserved privilege of having Him in our lives, so we will constantly revere, adore, honor and give ourselves to Him. I pray that His life will powerfully be at work in us. Please compel us to tell everyone about Him. I pray also that very soon a groundswell of unsaved “jars of clay” will recognize that they too can have the Treasure, and will urgently cry out to Him for salvation. May all this work of the Treasure demonstrate Your surpassing power to all people. In Jesus’ name I ask these things. Amen.
