SCRIPTURE READING:
Matthew 21:6-9

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,

“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the ultimate King of David’s kingdom.

Dear Father, I exalt Jesus as He rode towards Jerusalem during the Passover season proclaiming that He was the promised Messiah. I can only imagine the pent-up longing the Jewish people had had for centuries that You would establish Your kingdom through a descendant of King David. I can imagine how fervently they believed that the Son of God coming in their time as the Son of David would free them from the tyranny of Roman rule and bless them again as a nation. I praise Jesus that He completely fulfilled all the ancient Messianic prophecies of Psalm 110:1, Zechariah 9:9 and others. I join the Jewish people in shouting, “Hosanna [“Save now”] to the Son of David,” and Psalm 118:25-26a, “LORD, save us! LORD, grant us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.” But, I praise the Son of David that He transcends all the power and glory of King David and all other earthly kings, and His rule is of all heaven and earth, forever. I bow before Him, according to what You said about Him in Psalm 2:6-8, “I have installed my King on Zion, my holy mountain. I will proclaim the LORD’S decree: He said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.’” I pray that believers today will worship Him as our Savior, King and Prince of Peace, and that His kingdom will come and His will be done in our lives and throughout the nations. All hail King Jesus, the Son of David, in Whose name I pray these things. Amen.
