SCRIPTURE READING:
Numbers 24:15-19
Then he spoke his message:
“The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor,
the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly,
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God,
who has knowledge from the Most High,
who sees a vision from the Almighty,
who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened:
“I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near.
A star will come out of Jacob;
a scepter will rise out of Israel.
He will crush the foreheads of Moab,
the skulls of all the people of Sheth.
Edom will be conquered;
Seir, his enemy, will be conquered,
but Israel will grow strong.
A ruler will come out of Jacob
and destroy the survivors of the city.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, ascended on high, has become the everlasting sign of God’s rule and authority.
Dear Father, I exalt Jesus, the Scepter, Who rose out of Israel to rule Israel and the nations! I love to picture scepters being held by monarchs as the symbol of their authority. I bow before the great Scepter, Who exceeds all the power and authority of all Israel’s kings (including King David), and all the kings of the earth. Thank You that Jesus, the Scepter, conquers His enemies, protects and provides for His people, gives guidance and righteousness to His subjects, and builds hope into those who put their faith in Him. I pray that we who are His people will seek to know the vastness of the Scepter, and will give Him all our devotion, adoration, gratitude, obedience, will and trust. I pray that multitudes of unsaved people all around us will desperately turn to Him as their mighty Scepter too. May the reign and fame of Jesus spread like wildfire! I ask these things in His glorious name. Amen.
