SCRIPTURE READING:
Hebrews 13:7-8
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, as God, never changes.
Dear Father, I rejoice that Your Spirit directed the writer of Hebrews to combine the words “Jesus” and “Christ” when stating that He is the Same Yesterday and Today and Forever. Truly, Jesus (His Person) Christ (His Office) is the One and Only Who can be the Same Yesterday and Today and For-ever. I am in awe as I think of the majestic greatness of Who He was Yesterday with You before the foundation of the world. I praise Him that after He created the heavens and the earth, He revealed the fullness of Who You are by performing mighty works in Your name, redeeming mankind from our sins, and finally ascending to heaven to rule at Your right hand and intercede for His people. As David Bryant says in “Tribute to Christ,” “All of Scripture, all of creation, all of history, all of the purposes and prophecies and promises of God are summed up in You (Christ) alone.” I am amazed that He has been all life and all hope to men and women for over 2000 years since He walked on earth as a man, including Today, and that He remains unchangeable, immovable, undiminished and all-supreme every moment. I honor Jesus Christ that He will unquestionably have the same preeminence when He returns to earth to exercise final justice on earth, and when He rules and reigns over His kingdom Forever. I pray You will compel me and all other believers to know the One Who is the Same Yesterday and Today and Forever, trust Him, live in His fullness, and continually declare His greatness. I pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
