Jesus is…
The Root of Jesse

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:
“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;
I will sing the praises of your name.”
Again, it says,
“Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”
And again,
“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
let all the peoples extol him.”
And again, Isaiah says,
“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Father, I rejoice that Jesus, the Root of Jesse (the father of King David), was sent to earth for Your sovereign purposes to rule over the nations, and to become a servant of the Jews on behalf of Your truth. I am deeply grateful that every part of Jesus’ life confirms the promises You made to the Old Testament patriarchs. I pray that Jews and Gentiles today who have put our trust in the Root of Jesse (the long-awaited Messiah) will glorify You for Your mercy, and will be filled with hope, joy and peace in Him. May we overflow with that great hope by the power of the Holy Spirit to all other Jews and Gentiles You bring into our lives. Please give us a deep passion to know the depths of the riches of Christ, so that we will continually seek Him and sing praises to His name. I pray that the kingdom of the Root of Jesse will expand beyond what we can ask or imagine, for His great glory. In His exalted name I ask these things. Amen.
