SCRIPTURE READING:
Luke 1:76-79
And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST brings the day of salvation to a darkened world.
Dear Father, I bless You for sending Jesus, the Rising Sun, from heaven to shine His saving light, truth and righteousness on all “those living in darkness and in the shadow of death.” I am very grateful that You sent the Rising Sun because of Your tender mercy for me and all of mankind. I rejoice that Jesus’ name of the Rising Sun is a fulfillment of the Messianic prophecy in Malachi 4:2: “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.” I pray that the Rising Sun will shine all of His fullness on me, my family, all believers and unsaved people to the ends of the earth. O God, mankind has always needed His presence, but we desperately need Him now to flood into every person, place and situation in our darkened world. I pray that You will convict the Church of any ways we have diminished the Rising Sun in our personal lives and other spheres of influence Please help us to be vessels of His spiritual healing to every other person we can. I pray that the presence of the Rising Sun will be so pervasive here that great numbers of lost people will be crying out to receive Him. Please “guide [all of] our feet into the path of peace.” I ask these things in His merciful name. Amen.
