SCRIPTURE READING:
Jeremiah 50:6-7

“My people have been lost sheep;
their shepherds have led them astray
and caused them to roam on the mountains.
They wandered over mountain and hill
and forgot their own resting place.
Whoever found them devoured them;
their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty,
for they sinned against the Lord, their verdant pasture,
the Lord, the hope of their ancestors.’

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST opens up His heart to us, and invites us to abide in Him and rest in Him.

Dear Father, I am saddened that we, Your people, are often lost, and we spend much of our lives wandering around trying to find peace, joy, hope, rest, comfort, satisfaction and relief apart from depending upon You. At the same time, I am deeply grateful that You have given us our own perfect Resting Place, the Lord Jesus. I pray we will wholly receive the invitation He gives in Matthew 11:28-30 to all His followers: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Glory to Jesus that He has always had ALL the strength, love and other abilities to be the place of complete rest for our souls and bodies. May we joyfully sing together “My Faith Has Found A Resting Place,” by Eliza Hewitt: (verse 1) “My faith has found a resting place, Not in device or creed; I trust the ever living One, His wounds for me shall plead. (chorus) I need no other argument, I need no other plea, It is enough that Jesus died, And that He died for me.” Please help us to never again be led astray from Him by anything or anyone, and to never forget Him or roam away from Him. I fervently pray that in this world of turmoil and pain, many millions of unsaved, eternally lost sheep will give their lives to the Resting Place too. I ask all these things in His restful name. Amen.
