SCRIPTURE READING:
Jeremiah 51:17-19

“Everyone is senseless and without knowledge;
every goldsmith is shamed by his idols.
The images he makes are a fraud;
they have no breath in them.
They are worthless, the objects of mockery;
when their judgment comes, they will perish.
He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these,
for he is the Maker of all things,
including the people of his inheritance—
the Lord Almighty is his name.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the full supply for all of the needs of God’s people.

Dear Father, I honor Jesus that He is far beyond all others who have ruled the people of Israel, and anywhere else in the world. I praise Him that He is “the Maker of all things, including the people of his inheritance.” I exalt Him that He alone is the glorious Portion of Jacob, and “the LORD Almighty.” I am totally in awe of Him that He has all power, all wisdom, all grace and mercy, all righteousness, and all other attributes as the full Portion of all people who seek Him! I am exceedingly grateful that He is willing and able to receive me and all others who have been senseless, without knowledge, and shamed by idols when we come to Him for His mercy and redemptive power. Father, I pray that You will cleanse us from all worthless influences that have falsely claimed to be our portion, and help us to live completely in the Portion of Jacob. I pray that we will follow Jeremiah’s words in Lamentations 3:22-24 with all of our hearts: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’” As an old song says, “He’s every-thing to me.” I ask these things in His blessed name. Amen.
