The Owner of the House

Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
“Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’
“But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’
Dear Father, I praise Jesus, the Owner of the House. I am very thankful that, just as Jesus taught the Jewish people 2000 years ago the necessity of entering the house (coming into a saving relationship with Him) through the “narrow door,” He is still teaching all people who have eyes to see and ears to hear how to do so. I can imagine Him sitting in His house (His kingdom) inviting all people to do what He taught in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” I honor Jesus that You have given Him the total authority to “get up and close the door” at His chosen time to everyone who has not been willing to come to Him. I pray that I and all those who have come to the Owner of the House through the narrow door will worship Him continually for that gift, and will give every thought, passion, talent, moment, word and deed to Him. Please convict us to urgently pray that every obstacle that has been keeping all the lost people we know from entering into salvation through the narrow door will be overcome, before it is too late. I pray these things in the saving name of Jesus. Amen.
