SCRIPTURE READING:
Matthew 13:45-46

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is worth far more than everything else we have or can imagine.

Dear Father, I am filled with great joy as I also think about Jesus as the One of Great Value of the kingdom of heaven. I am delighted that in today’s parable a merchant was very actively looking for fine pearls, when he found the One of Great Value (or the Pearl of Great Price). I rejoice that there is nothing which can compare to the unfathomable value of Jesus. Truly, He is of the greatest value. I exalt Him that the vastness of Your wisdom, beauty, righteousness, love, power, mercy, goodness, splendor, grace and much, much more dwells in Him. I marvel that He gave His precious life for me and for all of mankind, and that He is the Lord of all creation and the soon-coming King! I pray that You will put an intense longing in me and in great numbers of other believers to possess all of the One of Great Value. May we live in the passion of an old Swedish hymn, “Den Kostliga Parlan” (“O That Pearl of Great Price”): “O that Pearl of great price! Have you found it? Is the Savior supreme in your love? O consider it well, ere you answer, As you hope for a welcome above. Have you given up all for this Treasure? Have you counted past gains as but loss? Has your trust in yourself and your merits, Come to naught before Christ and His Cross?” I pray that unsaved people everywhere will soon become consumed with us in seeking the One of Great Value. I ask these things in His priceless name. Amen.
