The Messiah, the Son of the Living God

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Dear Father, I am in awe of Your strong revelation to Peter that Jesus is the Messiah,, (the long-awaited Christ, Savior and Anointed One), the Son of the Living God (Your beloved, divine, One and Only Son)! I love how this combined name of Messiah and the Son of the Living God encompasses exactly what You and Christ wanted Peter and the rest of His disciples to under-stand about Him and about You. I praise Jesus that He builds His Church securely on the rock-solid foundation of all He is as the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. I pray that You will reveal to me and to many of His other followers today the vastness of Who He is, so that we too will build our lives entirely upon Him. Please help us to repent of all ways we have treated Him as less than the supreme Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Give us a burning passion to continually testify about His greatness to one another and to every unsaved person we can. I pray that a groundswell of the reality of Who Jesus is will be “loosed” into the hearts and minds of unsaved people of all ages, ethnic origins, languages, regions and social groups. May Messiah’s Church be built for His honor in His name. Amen.
