SCRIPTURE READING:
John 4:16-18, 21-26

He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

“I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is God’s chosen vessel to bring God to mankind, and mankind to God.

Dear Father, How powerful it was that the Samaritan woman had a strong confidence that the Messiah (called Christ) would be coming to the Jews, and that He was the One through Whom You had chosen to reveal Yourself. I honor the Messiah that all of Your fullness is in Him, and that He alone could tell the woman (and all people) of Your love, power, righteousness, mercy, grace, truth, justice and much more. As the Samaritan woman believed then, I believe now, that only the Messiah can restore hope and life to our desperate world. I am very grateful that I and all who believe in Him as our Savior can worship You in the Spirit and in truth. I bow down before the Messiah, and pray that His followers will hunger to know everything we possibly can about You and Him. I pray also that Your Spirit will remove all obstacles that have been keeping unbelievers today from the Messiah, so that very soon they will understand Who He is, like the Samaritan woman did when Jesus declared to her, “I, the one speaking to—I am he.” In the matchless name of Jesus I pray all these things. Amen.
