SCRIPTURE READING:
Luke 8:22-25

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the commander of all things.

Dear Father, I am in awe as I think about how Jesus brought all of the heavens and earth into existence by the word of His mouth, and how He demonstrated that same mastery over the wind and the waves in this critical situation with His disciples on the lake. I can identify with the disciples crying “Master, Master,” because they knew Jesus was the only one Who had the authority to save them from being swamped. At the same time, I join the disciples as they were filled with fear and amazement at the unparalleled and unlimited power they were beginning to understand that Jesus possessed. I pray that You will help me, my family members and all other believers today to see the Master as clearly as those disciples did so that we too will be filled with fear and amazement of Him. I pray that You will help our faith in the Master to grow much deeper, so we will trust Him at all times, even when it seems like He is “asleep.” Please convince us to give Him the command of every part of our lives. I pray too that the Holy Spirit will very soon reveal the power and majesty of the Master to all possible lost people around us, and they will cry out to Him to save them. In the Master’s name I ask these things. Amen.
