SCRIPTURE READING:
John 19:1-6

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST suffered as a human being.

Dear Father, I praise Jesus that He is the Lord of the universe Who humbled Himself by descending from the glories of heaven to become an earthly man. My heart grieves that this pure, righteous, meek, loving and sacrificial God-Man and servant Man, had to suffer the incredible scorn and brutality of flogging, a crown of thorns on his head, being struck in His face and the agony of crucifixion. I am reminded of what Isaiah 53:3 says that the Man endured for my sins and the sins of mankind: “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.” I honor Him for His absolute obedience to and dependency upon You. I bow before Him in my most heartfelt gratitude and adoration. All hail the Man Who was crucified on the cross, rose from the grave, ascended to Your right hand and rules from there forevermore! I pray You will often remind all of the Man’s followers of the amazing love He has for us, so we will die to ourselves and live wholly in Him. I pray that the precious truth about the Man will capture the hearts and minds of many unsaved people here too, so they will very soon receive Him as their Savior. I ask these things in the beloved name of Jesus. Amen.
