SCRIPTURE READING:
Luke 2:25-28

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the promised Anointed One from God.

Dear Father, I am very pleased that the Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that he would not die before he had seen Jesus, the Lord’s Messiah (Christ). I can imagine that Simeon must have been amazed that he would have the great privilege of seeing (not to mention holding) the Messiah, Who, the prophets had foretold for many centuries, would be sent by You to save their nation. I praise Jesus that He is God, the Lord of the universe, the One You said in Isaiah 9 would heal the sick, have the government on His shoulders, reign on King David’s throne, and bring endless peace to Israel. I exalt Jesus, Your Chosen and Anointed Messiah. I thank You profusely that I and every person today can (before we die) see the Lord’s Messiah by faith, and take Him into our arms (our lives). I rejoice that, like Jesus was physically known by Simeon, and later by His disciples and many other people of Israel, that He is present in Spirit for all people today to receive Him, know Him, love Him, be healed by Him, be forgiven and cleansed by Him, and be conformed to His image. Oh, Father, I pray that I and millions of believers today will be as desirous of seeing, holding and being sold out to the Lord’s Messiah as Simeon was. As with Simeon, may You receive the highest praise. In Your Messiah’s name I ask these things. Amen.
