SCRIPTURE READING:
1 Corinthians 2:6-10a
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST holds the greatest esteem and majesty of all beings.
Dear Father, I worship Jesus, the Lord of Glory (the “glorious Lord”). I exalt Him in the glory that He has with You, expressed in John 17:1b-5, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” I rejoice that He is the Messiah, the secret wisdom (mystery) that You destined before the beginning of time would be revealed one day by Your Spirit. I grieve that the Jewish rulers did not understand Who Jesus was, and they crucified Him. At the same time, I repent for the lack of understanding that so many people (believers and non-believers) in our world today have of the divinity of Jesus. I pray that You will clearly reveal to believers (me included) ALL the Lord of Glory is, so we will correctly conceive what You have prepared for those of us who love You and Him. All these things I pray in His glorious name. Amen.
