SCRIPTURE READING:
Romans 14:7-11

For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written:

“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will acknowledge God.’”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST’S rule extends to every era of history.

Dear Father, I praise Jesus, Who died and returned to life, so that He might be Lord of Both the Dead and the Living. I worship Him that He has all power, authority, rule and dominion over my life, and all His followers’ lives, now and forever. The words of Edward Perronet’s glorious old hymn rise up within me as I meditate on Jesus’ supreme lordship: (verse 1) “All hail the power of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. (verse 4) Let every kindred, every tribe, On this terrestrial ball, To Him all majesty ascribe, And crown Him Lord of all. (verse 5) O that with yonder sacred throng, We at His feet may fall! We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.” I pray that You will help me and all other believers be as sold out to Jesus as Paul stated in Philippians 1:21 that he was: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Help us desire to know Jesus like Paul did, and to trust Jesus for our present and future like Paul did, and talk unceasingly about the greatness of Jesus like Paul did. Oh Father, may we live for the Lord Jesus, and when we die, may we die for Him as well. I pray that Your Spirit is opening the hearts of millions of spiritually lost people to cry out to the Lord of Both the Dead and the Living for mercy too. I pray these things in His exalted name. Amen.
