Jesus is…
The Living Water

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
Dear Father, I am very grateful that You sent Jesus, the ceaselessly abundant Living Water to the Samaritan woman, to me and to all mankind. I rejoice that only the Living Water is able to satisfy our deepest need: our spiritual thirst, now and for all of eternity. I marvel how Jesus knew everything about the Samaritan woman (and about me too), and that He uses the circumstances of our lives to offer His precious cleansing, sustaining, reviving, filling and healing life to us. I pray that You will put an insatiable thirst in me and every believer for the Living Water. I love to think of Him as our Water of life. I pray that You will immerse us in the Living Water. May we wholeheartedly live in Jesus’ promise in John 7:37b-38, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” May those rivers of Living Water overflow from us into the lives of all unsaved people we know, so they will very soon thirstily receive eternal life in Him. I pray these things in His name. Amen.
