SCRIPTURE READING:
Colossians 2:6-10
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the absolute ruler of all kingdoms, visible and invisible.
Dear Father, I praise the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Head Over Every Power and Authority, now and forever. I marvel how all of Christ’s names and attributes add to each other to describe His absolute Headship. I again marvel how many Scripture passages like Ephesians 1:19b-21 declare His authority too: “That power is the same as the mighty strength he [God the Father] exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” I pray that I and all other believers will earnestly seek to know all we can about our supreme Head, and that we will humbly honor and obey Him, and submit every part of our lives to Him. I pray that all powers and authorities in the world will fear and revere the Head Over Every Power and Authority, and become subject to His rule and reign. For His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
