SCRIPTURE READING:
Hebrews 4:14-16

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, knowing man’s weakness, is the perfect mediator between God and man.

Dear Father, I earnestly desire to hold firmly to the faith I possess in Jesus the Son of God, the Great High Priest. I rejoice that all the high priests (including Aaron and Levi) that preceded the Great High Priest are fulfilled in Him. I praise Him that He has gone into heaven to sprinkle His own blood on the mercy seat to permanently cleanse the sins of His people, and that He intercedes continually to You for our needs. I think an even more appropriate title for Him than Great High Priest, is Greatest High Priest! I am deeply grateful that, though He was without sin, He can sympathize with my weaknesses and care for me and all His followers with unconditional mercy and grace. I pray that You will help us to submit our lives wholly to the Great High Priest and become completely dependent upon Him. I ask these things in His gracious and holy name. Amen.
