Dear Father, I thank You so much for Jesus, the eternal Good Shepherd. I am absolutely overwhelmed as I read about the limitless goodness of the God-head throughout the whole Bible. I marvel that this goodness dwells in the Lord Jesus as He cares for me and all the rest of His beloved sheep. I love to think about how Jesus’ great goodness, love, mercy, grace, righteousness, justice, and all of His other attributes work together perfectly in His shepherding of us. I worship the Good Shepherd that the greatest demonstration of His goodness was when He laid down His life for me and all of mankind as the sacrifice for our sins. I honor Him that He completely fulfills all the Biblical prophecies about shepherding His sheep, including Ezekiel 34:12, “As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.” I am deeply blessed that He knows us intimately and that we can know Him intimately, just as You and Jesus know each other intimately! I place every part of my life under His care, and I pray that all believers will do so too. I pray that You make all of my friends, relatives, neighbors and work associates who have not yet received the Good Shepherd aware of how desperately they need Him too. I pray these things in His loving name. Amen.
