SCRIPTURE READING:
Deuteronomy 32:15-18

Jeshurun grew fat and kicked;
filled with food, they became heavy and sleek.
They abandoned the God who made them
and rejected the Rock their Savior.
They made him jealous with their foreign gods
and angered him with their detestable idols.
They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God—
gods they had not known,
gods that recently appeared,
gods your ancestors did not fear.
You deserted the Rock, who fathered you;
you forgot the God who gave you birth.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the Son of the Father. He created all people—and all things—for Himself.

Dear Father, I am grieved by this account of the wickedness and self-indulgence of Jeshurun (the people of Israel), and their abandonment of the God Who Made Them. I am very mindful that Your beloved Son, Jesus, made the people of Israel and all other people, as the Bible says in John 1:3, “Through him [Jesus, the Word] all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” I can only imagine how grieved You must be that the people of Israel and great numbers of other people throughout history, including now, have abandoned Jesus. I repent for all the ways I have abandoned Him, and I pray You will cleanse me and cause me to embrace Him and devote every part of my life to Him. I pray that You will so powerfully awaken Christians everywhere to the greatness of the God Who Made Them, that repentance, cleansing and devotion to Him will revive us to the depths of our being. I pray these things in Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen.
