Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Dear Father, I am delighted that Jesus, the God of Peace, is with me at all times. I praise Him that He is the perfection of all the godly qualities in today’s Scripture passage which lead to peace: He is noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. I marvel again that the heavenly host announced His birth as the “peacegiver” by saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” I hold on to some of the many other Scripture passages which affirm that Your peace is in Jesus, such as His own words in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid,” and in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” I really want to experience what Paul says in Colossians 3:15, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” I pray that You will help me, my family members and all other followers of Jesus to be increasingly desirous to know and live in the depths of the God of Peace. Oh, may we especially be messengers of His peace to one another. I ask all these things in His blessed name. Amen.
