For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Dear Father, I am in awe that Jesus is ALL You are, and that You sent Him to earth to be the fullness of God, to reveal the fullness of God, and to make avail-able the fullness of God to all who seek Him. I praise Him that there is nothing lacking in Him of Your glory, majesty, power, love or wisdom. I am abounding in joy and hope that I and all believers can know You completely through Him! I am deeply grateful for the gift You have given us of Him dwelling in our hearts through faith, and that we are rooted and established in the wide, long, high and deep love of Christ. Truly, this is another confirmation of Christ’s promise in John 10:10 that: “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full.” I pray that Your Spirit will give us an insatiable desire to know more and more of the Fullness of God. I think of the beautiful hymn by Eliza Hewitt that includes: (verse 1) “More about Jesus would I know, More of His grace to others show; More of His saving fullness see, More of His love Who died for me. (verse 2) More about Jesus let me learn, More of His holy will discern; Spirit of God, my Teacher be, Showing the things of Christ to me. (verse 3) More about Jesus in His Word, Holding communion with my Lord; Hearing His voice in every line, Making each faithful saying mine.” May we be so captivated with Christ that we give ourselves body, mind and spirit to Him, and regularly exclaim of His greatness to one another. I pray these things in Jesus’ glorious name. Amen.
