SCRIPTURE READING:
Ephesians 5:1-2

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the sweetest offering of all time to God.

Blessed Father, I am very grateful that Christ loves me and all people so much that He was willing to come to earth and offer every part of His life for us, including sacrificing His body and His blood on the cross. I rejoice that His life is wonderfully fragrant (“sweet-smelling savor”) to You. Truly, He is the beloved Fragrant Offering and Sacrifice to God. I pray that You will awaken me and many other followers of Christ to much more of Who the Fragrant Offering and Sacrifice to God is, so we will love, honor, revere, adore, imitate and abide in Him, for His great glory. I pray that You will especially help us to offer ourselves as sacrifices to You, as Paul says in Romans 12:1, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” As a part of wholly giving ourselves, I pray You will help us to obey Christ’s command in John 13:34-35, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” I pray all these things in Christ’s fragrant name. Amen.
