SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who said that to see Him is to see the Father, will always govern His people the way a Father would do.

Dear Father, Today, it is a joy to focus on Jesus governing His people through all the aspects of Him as the Everlasting Father. I bless Him for the complete assurance He gives in John 14:9b that He has all the fatherly power and attributes of You, the heavenly Father: [Jesus said] “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’” I marvel that Jesus, the Everlasting Father, is at the same time: (1) Eternal and never-ending (Everlasting), and (2) The perfect Head, Guide, Mentor, Leader, Provider, Protector, Shepherd, Lord, Priest, Hero, Advocate, Life-Giver, and every other role that could possibly be fulfilled as a Father. I am so glad that I am a child of the Everlasting Father! I pray that You will help me to know everything I possibly can about Him, and to live in wholehearted love of, respect for, and devotion to Him. Please help me and all His other children to say as He did to You in Matthew 26:39b, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” I pray that multitudes of people who are currently lost and fatherless without Him, will soon receive Him as Savior and Everlasting Father too. I ask all these things in His loving name. Amen.
