SCRIPTURE READING:
1 Peter 5:1-4

To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the supreme guardian of His sheep.

Dear Father, I worship Christ, the Chief Shepherd of His whole flock. All glory and honor to Him that He is the Prince, Leader, Head, Overseer and Superintendent of all His undershepherds (pastors). I am grateful that the Chief Shepherd of shepherds has always had, and will always have, all authority, wisdom and grace to provide His undershepherds with all they need to care for the flock. I take great confidence in Paul’s declaration in Philippians 4:19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” So, I pray You will help me and all other leaders within the Church to abandon ourselves to knowing the depths of the Chief Shepherd, loving Him with all our hearts, abiding in Him, following Him, worshiping Him, and talking continually about His greatness to the flocks He gives us. When He appears, may we “receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.” I pray these things in the name of our wonderful, beautiful, mighty, beloved and glorious Chief Shepherd. Amen.
