SCRIPTURE READING:
Mark 6:1-3

Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST was identified as an ordinary person to discredit the amazing wisdom and power He was displaying.

Dear Father, I love it that Your perfect plan for Jesus included Him being a Carpenter and Mary’s Son. I am in awe over what the Carpenter built with His skilled and mighty hands: objects of wood for everyday use by the people of His hometown, as well as His glorious kingdom through His amazing teaching and miraculous works. I marvel that even though Jesus was the son of a very ordinary woman, (who to some in Nazareth was scandalous because of Jesus’ birth), that she was Your divine choice to be His mother, and she was totally faithful in her role for Him. I rejoice that You poured Your limitless wisdom, authority, righteousness and power into the humble upbringing of the Person of all persons. All praise and honor to Jesus, the Carpenter and Mary’s Son, now and forevermore. I am sorry that His hometown residents took offense at Him, and even more so, I repent for the ways that I and any of His other followers today have failed to believe in His magnificent greatness, and to devote every part of our lives to Him. I pray that the burning passions of our lives will be to know more of the Carpenter and Mary’s Son, and to tell everyone else about how excellent He is. I pray these things in His beloved name. Amen.
