SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 53:1-4, 12

Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.

Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST not only reigns at God’s right hand, but is, in a sense, the very arm of God at work among the nations.

Dear Father, I am saddened that today’s prophecy states that the Jews in Jesus’ time on earth would not believe in Him as the Messiah. I am more saddened that many people on earth today still do not believe in Him as Savior and Lord. But, I praise Jesus that He is the Arm of the Lord, Who has Your full strength, power, might, rule and justice. I worship Him that He is eternally sovereign over all the people and nations His arm created. I also rejoice that even though the Arm of the Lord grew up humbly “like a tender shoot,” He has all power to save mankind’s souls, as Paul says in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” Oh, thank You so much for revealing that Jesus is able to conquer the forces of darkness, raise up and take down the kings of the earth, rule the wind and the waves, heal the sick, achieve victory over death, forgive mankind of our sins, fulfill all Your promises, strengthen the weak, and infinitely more. I repent for the many times I have lacked faith in the Arm of the Lord. Please help me and all His followers to become utterly dependent upon Him. I pray these things in His strong name. Amen.
