SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 63:7-9

I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord,
the deeds for which he is to be praised,
according to all the Lord has done for us—
yes, the many good things
he has done for Israel,
according to his compassion and many kindnesses.
He said, “Surely they are my people,
children who will be true to me”;
and so he became their Savior.
In all their distress he too was distressed,
and the angel of his presence saved them.
In his love and mercy he redeemed them;
he lifted them up and carried them
all the days of old.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the Word Who was with God and is God, and is Heaven’s Ambassador from God to the nations.

Dear Father, I am glad that some of the ancient Jewish people realized that the many good and kind deeds You had done for the house of Israel were because of Your great compassion. I rejoice that after they had suffered many generations for their hard hearts, You empathized with their distress, and sent Your beloved Son as the Angel of His (Your) Presence to demonstrate Your enduring love for them. I like how one person describes Christ being the Angel of His (Your) Presence as His being the “Angel Who stands before His (Your) face continually.” What an amazing reality it is that Jesus stands before Your face continually, and was Your faithful messenger of love, com-passion, kindness, mercy and redemption to the Jews 2000 years ago, and is to all who come to Him today. I am very saddened that many of the early Jews who the Angel of His Presence came to save rejected and crucified Him, and that billions of people of all languages, nations and ethnicities still reject Him. He is the only Savior of the world, and we all desperately need Him. I pray that His followers across the globe today will exalt Him for all He is, and place every part of our lives in His hands to carry us all of our days. Please inspire each of us to tell many lost people we know about the merciful Angel of His Presence so they might very soon receive Him as their Redeemer too. I pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
