SCRIPTURE READING:
Luke 9:37-42

The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him. A man in the crowd called out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him. I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not.”

“You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”

Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST instructs and leads His followers in how to live under His lordship.

Dear Father, Thank You very much for the powerful demonstration of the lordship of Jesus in His cleansing of a young man from the control of a demon. I am confident that what Jesus teaches in this incident can apply to every part of our relationship with Him. I worship Him that He alone has the authority to overcome and cast out all forces of darkness. I praise Him that He is Lord of all the physical and spiritual kingdoms. I honor Him for being the divine Teacher of the people of Israel who encountered Him during His time with them on earth, and of me and countless other people throughout the ages who hear and read about His powerful, life-changing teachings and works. I can certainly understand how the many Jews whom He taught and miraculously healed were amazed with the authority of the great Teacher. I pray that I, my family members and all of His followers will devote ourselves to knowing all we possibly can about Him, so we will grow in trusting Him, obeying all He is teaching us, and speaking to everyone about His boundless wisdom and power. Please teach us to always follow the Teacher. I pray these things in His wise and worthy name. Amen.
