Sovereign Lord, Holy and True

SCRIPTURE READING:
Revelation 6:9-11
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the absolute ruler of this universe, perfect in all His attributes.
Dear Father, I honor the Lamb for the willingness of His followers’ to be slain because of their testimony of Him. I know that in our Scripture today those slain saints are calling out to Him, the Sovereign Lord, Holy and True, to judge those who have inflicted suffering and death on them. I rejoice that He is the Judge Who created all people, knows all people’s hearts and deeds, is all wise and just, and is now and forever the completely Sovereign Lord (Ruler and Master) of all. I am again deeply grateful for the assurance of Jesus’ unlimited authority (sovereign lordship) that He confirmed to His disciples in Matthew 28:18b, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” I exalt Jesus that, while He is fully the Sovereign Lord, He is also fully the Holy and True One. I praise Jesus that all holiness and truth originate in Him, and that all holiness and truth His people have are through Him, by Him and for Him! I pray that Your Spirit will put an intense desire in me and multitudes of other believers to know all we possibly can of the Sovereign Lord, Holy and True, so we will trust Him with our lives, as those who have been slain are trusting Him to avenge their blood. I pray these things in Christ’s holy name. Amen.
