SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 72:1-7

Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.
May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.
May he endure[a] as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.
May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
like showers watering the earth.
In his days may the righteous flourish
and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST blesses His people with Himself, in the same way that rain refreshes the fields.

Dear Father, I am very grateful that King Jesus, Your royal Son, is the Rain Falling on a Mown Field. Truly, He does for His people all of the things this Scripture passage says, including showering us with nourishment when we are like a field that has just been cut and is desperately needing to be refreshed and restored. Thank You that Christ has all Your love, healing, strength, grace, tenderness, forgiveness, encouragement, and much, much more to “rain” on us, in fulfillment of what You say through the prophet Ezekiel in chapter 34, verses 26a-27, “I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. The trees will yield their fruit, and the ground will yield its crops; the people will be secure in their land. They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.” Hallelujah! Jesus is our ALL. I pray that I, my family members and all Christ’s followers will grow in our esteem and trust of Him, and in total dependency upon Him. May we flourish and abound in Him, and joyfully speak of His greatness to every person You bring into our lives. I pray these things in the life-giving, hope-fulfilling name of Jesus. Amen.
