Jesus is…
The Prince of Peace
click above to play 2-min devotion
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
Dear Father, I especially rejoice that Jesus governs His people through Him being the Prince of Peace. I marvel how His vast attributes, nature and abilities are all part of Him as the supreme Peacegiver. I honor the Prince of Peace that He completely lives out the Beatitudes (of peace) that He taught His followers in Matthew 5:3-10: He is poor in spirit; He mourns; He is meek; He hungers and thirsts for righteousness; He is merciful; He is pure in heart; He is a peacemaker; and He is persecuted because of righteous-ness. I exalt Jesus that He is the giver of peace in all our relationships: (1) between You and man through sacrificing His life on the cross; (2) in the hearts and minds of each individual follower as they surrender more and more of themselves and every life situation to His lordship; and (3) between man and man as they live in His great love and humility with each other. I am very grateful that in John 14:27 He left never-ending peace with all His followers through the Holy Spirit: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” I pray that I and believers everywhere will awaken to all the Prince of Peace is, and submit to His governance of our lives, so we will continually be ambassadors of peace in Him. And, I pray that very soon, “Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end” in America and around the world. In His name I ask these things. Amen.
