SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 53:4-6

Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, so horribly wounded, shed His blood not only for our sins but for the sins of the whole world.

Dear Father, I want to give my deepest gratitude to Jesus that He came to earth as the completely sinless Son of God to be the One Who is Pierced for our Transgressions. I praise Jesus, the blessed Messiah, that He gave up His unlimited power and glory to allow His hands, feet and side to be pierced with nails and a spear. I thank Him for allowing Himself to be beaten and otherwise “crushed” for my iniquities and the iniquities of all people. I can only imagine the crushing weight of those iniquities that You laid upon Him. I love Him so much for being our substitute, fulfilling our payment, receiving our shame and much more, to pardon us from Your justice, and to make available to us a restored relationship with You. I think of the precious words of Paul in Romans 4:25, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” I rejoice with all my heart that by the wounds Jesus took on for us, all the ways we have gone astray from You are healed when we receive Him as our Savior. Hallelujah! The punishment that was upon Him has brought us everlasting peace. I pray these things in the name of the Pierced One. Amen.
