SCRIPTURE READING:
Jude 1:3-4

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the absolute Ruler of the universe.

Dear Father, I worship Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, the only true Sovereign and Lord. I love to go through the Bible and find many places that acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Sovereign (monarch and preeminent ruler) and Lord (master and head), of all His creation, now and forever. I am in awe that Your sovereign wisdom, power, authority, benevolence, righteousness and grandeur dwells within Him. I am reminded of Daniel 4:24-26 where the prophet speaks to King Nebuchadnezzar about the supreme sovereignty of God (which is fulfilled in Jesus): “This is the interpretation [of the king’s dream], Your Majesty, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king: ‘You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes. The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.’” I pray that You will saturate me so completely with the knowledge of the greatness of our Sovereign and Lord that I will never deny Him, but will proclaim all He is with all my heart. I pray these things in His majestic name. Amen.
