2 Peter 1:1-2
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST is both God and Savior in one Person.
Dear Father, I delight that I and all people who receive the most precious gift of faith do so through the righteousness of our blessed God and Savior Jesus Christ. I am in awe thinking of all those names of Him combined: God (the Word Who was with God, and is God for all time), Savior (our Redeemer and Mediator), Jesus (the One Who saves) and Christ (Messiah and Anointed One). I worship our God and Savior Jesus Christ, the only One through Whom the fullness of Your righteousness is possible. I pray that You will help me and all believers devote ourselves completely to knowing all we possibly can of Him, and to living like Paul testified in Romans 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—and righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” Please help us to grow as servants of our God and Savior Jesus Christ with unwavering faith in Him. May “grace and peace be ours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” I pray these things in the most precious name of Jesus. Amen.
