SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 18:16-19, 29
He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
he drew me out of deep waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.
With your help I can advance against a troop;
with my God I can scale a wall.
SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST fulfills God’s promise to be the willing-and-able champion of His people.
Dear Father, I am forever grateful that the Lord Jesus came down from on high to take hold of me, physically and spiritually. Truly, He drew me out of deep water and rescued me from my powerful enemy. I praise Him that He is the only One Who can and will be my all-encompassing Support, today and forever. I marvel that the Lord Jesus has the power and the authority to sustain, provide for, assist, preserve, strengthen, comfort, defend, advocate for, and redeem all who put our faith in Him. I love the picture of His support in Psalm 94:18, “When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.” Please help me to become totally dependent upon Jesus, my Support. I pray that Your Spirit will remind believers everywhere of all Who Christ is, and that in the desperate times in which we live, we must trust our Support to rescue us and all the rest of the world. I pray all these things in the name of our supreme Rescuer. Amen.
