SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 140:6-8

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”
Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.
Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer,
you shield my head in the day of battle.
Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord;
do not let their plans succeed.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST continues to deliver and liberate a people for His glory from all other people and nations.

Dear Father, I praise the Sovereign Lord Jesus that He is my Strong Deliverer, and the Strong Deliverer of all who have received Him as their Savior. I think of the unlimited strength He has always possessed, and of the greatness of all His other attributes! Truly, Jesus is the all-strong, awesome God! I am forever grateful that His strength that created and sustains the whole world, has already delivered me countless times from the devil’s attacks, and from the eternal penalty of my sins. I give Him all thanks that He shields my head (and my whole body, mind and spirit) in all battles, far beyond what all man’s armor bearers could conceive. Like King David, who wrote this Psalm, without my Strong Deliverer I would have perished many times. I also rejoice at the amazing example in David’s life when he confidently faced Goliath with these words recorded in 1 Samuel 17:47, “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s and he will give all of you into our hands.” I pray that You will regularly remind me and the whole Church of the Strong Deliverer’s fathomless strength, so we will continually praise Him, thank Him, trust Him and cry for His mercy in all our battles. I pray these things in His almighty name. Amen.
