SCRIPTURE READING:
Isaiah 53:7-11

He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST, in humility and obedience to the Father, fully served us by dying for us.

Dear Father, I am in awe of the Righteous Servant. I bless Jesus that He is the only Person Who is completely righteous and completely a servant. I exalt Him that He is holy and righteous as You are holy and righteous. I am deeply grateful that You sent Him to earth to serve all people through His suffering (a suffering servant). I rejoice that by His supreme knowledge of You, His supreme knowledge of His role of suffering, and His supreme knowledge of the condition of all people, He is justifying countless numbers of people for all of eternity! I rejoice that Your perfect will is magnificently “prospering in his hand,” and that He is absolutely satisfied that His suffering is bearing the fruit that You and He knew it would before the beginning of time. I am reminded of Isaiah 52:13 which confirms that Jesus fulfilled the role You gave Him as the Righteous Servant: “See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.” I pray that You will put a consuming passion in me and in great numbers of other believers to intimately know the Righteous Servant, so we will become devoted servants in His image. I ask these things in His righteous name. Amen.
