SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 4:1-3

Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST manifests the righteous character of the living God for all mankind to see.

Dear Father, I rejoice that King David was ultimately addressing this conversation to Christ, his Righteous God, the God of his righteousness. I bless Christ that He is the author, witness, maintainer, judge and rewarder of all righteousness. Glory to Him, that all my righteousness is in Him, as Paul says in Romans 5:19, “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” I am very grateful that living in the Righteous God includes relief from distress, receiving His tender mercy, and His inexhaustible purity, freedom, peace, truth, justice and goodness. I am filled with hope that He has set me, and all of His children, apart for Himself; and that when we call on Him He answers us. I pray that You will convict us to repent of all ways we have loved delusions and sought false gods. Please help us to become righteous as He, our great Lord and King, is righteous. I pray these things in His holy name. Amen.
