SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 119:57-58, 62-64

You are my portion, Lord;
I have promised to obey your words.
I have sought your face with all my heart;
be gracious to me according to your promise.

At midnight I rise to give you thanks
for your righteous laws.
I am a friend to all who fear you,
to all who follow your precepts.
The earth is filled with your love, Lord;
teach me your decrees.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST provides us “immeasurably-more-than-all-we-can-ask-or-imagine” straight from His riches in glory.

Dear Father, I am very grateful that in Jesus, the fullness of the Godhead dwells, and that He is my all-sufficient Portion. I marvel at all He is, and at how much He loves and cares for me! He is the all in all for the whole world, and certainly He is my all in all too. My thoughts quickly return to Psalm 23:1 where King David testifies: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” I rejoice that praying today’s Scripture helps me live in my blessed Portion. I promise to obey Jesus’ words; I desire to seek His face with all my heart; I need His grace according to His promise; I give thanks for His righteous laws; I am a friend to all who fear Him and follow His precepts; I rejoice that the earth is filled with His love; and, I eagerly want Him to teach me His decrees. I also state my longing to be totally dependent upon Jesus like David’s music director, Asaph, expressed to You in Psalm 73:26, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” I forsake dependence upon all other people and resources, so that I may rely only on Jesus. In His preeminent name I pray these things. Amen.
