SCRIPTURE READING:
Psalm 40:13-17

Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.
May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
be appalled at their own shame.
But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”
But as for me, I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.

SIGNIFICANCE:
The LORD JESUS CHRIST triumphs as God’s ultimate redeemer and emancipator of His people.

Dear Father, When I read this powerful testimony of King David’s dependency upon You, my passion to be wholly dependent upon Jesus greatly increases. As David says to You, “May those who long for your saving help always say, ‘The LORD is great,’” I say that I deeply love the complete physical and spiritual salvation I have in Jesus, and I exalt His greatness with all my heart! I also confess that I am poor and needy, and I am very grateful that Jesus thinks of me unceasingly! I rejoice that He is the divine, eternal and complete Help and Deliverer for me and all who receive Him as our Savior and Lord. I am confident that Jesus has all the strength and authority, and at the same time, all the love and compassion, to help and deliver us at all times and in all circumstances, just as He has delivered us from the kingdom of darkness into His glorious light. I pray that You will help us to know Jesus and trust Him more and more each day, and that You will remind us to always beseech Him, “Help me and deliver me, Jesus.” I pray these things in His saving name. Amen.
