Jesus is…
My Defense

In that day you will say:
“I will praise you, Lord.
Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away
and you have comforted me.
Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.”
With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation.
In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
Dear Father, I rejoice in how Jesus fulfills this whole Scripture passage, including that He is the impenetrable Defense of the people who are trusting in Him as our Savior. I am in awe that the sentence which our Defense is in, begins with “The LORD, the LORD,” to doubly emphasize the matchless lordship of Him Who is ALL the “strength, defense and salvation” of His people. I praise Jesus that throughout history He has demonstrated His magnificent strength, all the way from parting the seas and conquering nations, to saving individual souls and caring for individual needs, and much more. Truly, Christ our Defense is Lord of all! I pray that I and believers every-where will continually praise our Defense for all He is, submit fully to His strength and defense, and speak of His power and mercy to everyone You bring into our lives. I repent for any ways I have not lived under the lordship of Jesus, my Defense. And, at this time in history, when there is so much chaos in neighborhoods, cities and nations, I pray that great numbers of believers and unbelievers will cry out to Jesus our Defense to save them spiritually and all other ways. May we join King David’s plea in Psalm 35:23, “Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.” In His strong name. Amen.
